Shop Policy

This Shop Policy applies to purchases made directly through Carbonless.org. By placing an order, you agree to this Shop Policy and the Carbonless Terms and Conditions.

1. Digital Products

Unless a product page expressly states otherwise, Carbonless products are delivered digitally.

Digital products may include:

  • Ebooks and downloadable documents;

  • Audiobooks and audio files;

  • Spreadsheets and calculators;

  • Checklists and reference materials;

  • Courses and training programs;

  • Video and audio libraries;

  • Membership or account-based content;

  • Digital reference libraries;

  • Downloadable ZIP archives; and

  • Other electronically delivered educational resources.

Digital delivery may occur through an email link, downloadable file, customer account, membership portal, course platform, or another electronic delivery method described at checkout.

Some files, particularly ZIP archives, may require a desktop or laptop computer and compatible software. You are responsible for confirming that your device and software can open the stated file format.

Please download and securely back up downloadable products after purchase.

2. Final-Sale Policy for Digital Products

Because digital products can be accessed, copied, downloaded, or consumed immediately, all digital-product sales are final once:

  • A download link has been delivered;

  • The file has been downloaded;

  • Account or course access has been activated;

  • Membership content has become available; or

  • The digital product has otherwise been made available to the purchaser.

Carbonless does not provide refunds because:

  • You changed your mind;

  • You no longer need the product;

  • You did not read the product description;

  • You expected information different from what was described;

  • Your device lacks compatible software;

  • You did not use or complete the product;

  • You purchased a product containing information you already knew; or

  • You disagree with the educational content.

This policy does not limit any refund, cancellation, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.

Carbonless may, at its discretion, correct an order or issue a refund when:

  • You were charged more than once for the same transaction;

  • Carbonless delivered the wrong product;

  • A technical error entirely within Carbonless’ control permanently prevents delivery; or

  • A refund is required by law.

Technical difficulties should be reported to support@carbonless.org. Carbonless will make reasonable efforts to restore access or provide a replacement delivery method before considering a refund.

3. License and Permitted Use

Purchasing a digital product gives you a limited license to use that product. It does not transfer ownership of the copyright or underlying intellectual property.

Unless the product page expressly provides a broader license, digital products are licensed to one individual purchaser for personal educational or internal professional use.

You may not:

  • Share the files with another person;

  • Post them to a shared drive or public server;

  • Resell, sublicense, distribute, or upload them;

  • Share membership or course credentials;

  • Use them to create a competing product or training program;

  • Remove copyright or attribution notices; or

  • submit the materials to a public AI training dataset or similar repository.

Company, team, classroom, distribution, publication, or commercial-training licenses require prior written authorization from Carbonless.

4. Courses, Memberships, and Account Access

The access period for a course, library, subscription, or membership will be stated on the product page or at checkout.

If a product is sold with recurring billing:

  • The billing frequency and renewal price will be disclosed before purchase;

  • The payment method on file may be charged automatically at each renewal;

  • You may cancel future renewals using the available account controls or by contacting support;

  • Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not ordinarily generate a refund for the current billing period; and

  • Access may continue until the end of the paid period unless otherwise stated.

If a product is sold for a fixed access period, access ends at the expiration of that period unless renewed.

When a product is advertised as including “lifetime access,” that phrase means access for as long as Carbonless continues to maintain and offer that product or substantially equivalent access through its operating platforms. It does not guarantee that a particular website, software platform, file format, or hosting service will remain available forever.

Carbonless may migrate content to a replacement platform or format.

5. Physical Products

A product is considered physical only when the product description clearly states that a physical item will be shipped.

Physical products purchased directly from Carbonless.org will ordinarily be processed and shipped within 14 calendar days after the order is received and payment is successfully completed.

The 14-day period concerns shipment from Carbonless, not guaranteed delivery to the customer.

Carrier delays, weather, holidays, supply interruptions, customs processing, incorrect addresses, and events beyond Carbonless’ reasonable control may affect delivery.

If Carbonless cannot ship within the stated period, we may contact you with an updated shipment date and any cancellation options required by applicable law.

Physical books or merchandise purchased through Amazon or another third-party retailer are governed by that retailer’s shipping, return, and refund policies.

6. Damaged or Defective Physical Products

Physical products may be returned only when they arrive damaged, materially defective, or different from the item ordered.

To request assistance, email support@carbonless.org within 14 calendar days after delivery and include:

  • Your name;

  • Order number;

  • A description of the damage or defect;

  • Photographs clearly showing the issue; and

  • Photographs of the packaging when shipping damage is involved.

Do not return an item without receiving return instructions.

After reviewing the request, Carbonless may provide, as appropriate:

  • A replacement;

  • Replacement components;

  • A return authorization;

  • A repair; or

  • A refund of the purchase price.

Normal wear, minor cosmetic variation, misuse, accidental damage after delivery, improper storage, and damage caused by the customer are not considered defects.

Physical products cannot be returned because of a change of mind, personal preference, or failure to read the product description, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

7. Incorrect Addresses, Refused Deliveries, and Lost Packages

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Contact support@carbonless.org promptly if you discover an address error. Carbonless cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order enters processing.

If a package is returned because of an incorrect address, refusal, or failure to retrieve the package, the customer may be responsible for additional shipping charges before it is resent.

Carbonless is not responsible for packages confirmed as delivered by the carrier but subsequently lost or stolen. We will reasonably assist with available carrier claims or tracking inquiries.

8. Pricing, Taxes, and Shipping Charges

Prices are displayed in United States dollars unless otherwise stated.

Applicable taxes and reasonable shipping charges may be calculated and displayed at checkout.

Carbonless may correct typographical, technical, or pricing errors. If a material pricing error is discovered after an order, Carbonless may cancel the order and refund the amount paid.

Promotional offers, coupon codes, and discounts:

  • Must be used before their expiration;

  • Cannot be redeemed for cash;

  • May not be combined unless expressly permitted; and

  • May be limited to particular products, customers, or transactions.

9. Payments and Fraud Prevention

Payments may be processed through independent payment providers. Carbonless may use reasonable fraud-prevention measures and may cancel or hold an order when payment authorization, identity, or transaction information cannot be verified.

You agree not to initiate an improper chargeback for a product that was accurately described and delivered.

Please contact support@carbonless.org first so that we have an opportunity to investigate a billing or delivery issue.

Fraudulent purchases, credential sharing, unauthorized redistribution, and abusive chargebacks may result in suspension of product or account access.

10. Donations

A charitable donation is separate from a product purchase unless expressly stated otherwise.

The purchase of a product, membership, subscription, or service is not automatically tax-deductible merely because Carbonless is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Donation acknowledgments and tax treatment are governed by applicable law. Donors should consult their own tax advisers.

11. Educational Product Disclaimer

Carbonless products provide general building-science education. They are not project-specific architectural, engineering, contracting, inspection, code-compliance, or construction services.

Purchasing a product does not create a professional-client relationship with Carbonless, Brian Iverson, an author, an instructor, or an independent Carbonless consultant.

You are responsible for having all project applications reviewed and approved by appropriately qualified professionals.
