Hypothesis PageWhy CCP may cause some more adverse reactions HYPOTHESIS Hypothesis of why some carbonless copy paper may cause some persons to experience a more adverse reaction. This may happen when using ccp that contains up to 45% of recycled carbonless added into the new product. If the manufacturer is recycling their own ccp using a chlorine recycling process. The PCB substitutes would become chlorinated, see PCB section. DIPN is one of the chemicals that does not breakdown in the recycling process, shown by Dr. Sturaro et al. and MAFF. The ccp could potentially contain a double dose of DIPN's and/or the newly chlorinated PCB's added to the PCB substituted compounds in the new mix. Another Hypothesis, in spring and fall there could be more bugs needing additional biocides/pesticides. Then in summer the cooked starch might be determined needing additional biocides. Last thoughts, an office could be compared to the glove box. If a new blister pack of ccp is opened the chemicals emitted would be at a higher concentration. Or the amount of ccp forms used, pages turned, writing on each page breaking the formaldehyde capsules, temperature in the office, ventilation and amount of forms in the immediate area. All might be taken into consideration, along with a head space analysis. Additional thoughts for this hypothesis, testing the black dust on the desks or shelves where the ccp is stored for formaldehyde. |
